Job Title: Quantitative Research Analyst- Horsham, PA

Location: Horsham, Pennsylvania

Job Description:
The Team: Morningstar`s structured credit research and ratings subsidiary is a Nationally Recognized Statistical Ratings Organization (NRSRO) that has earned a reputation for innovation and excellence in the structured finance market. Known for innovation and excellence in the structured finance market, they aim to increase market transparency and provide the highest quality ratings through securities research, monitoring services, data, and technology solutions.

The Role: The Quantitative Research Analyst role involves econometric and cash flow modeling of commercial mortgage investments, commercial mortgage-backed securities, and real estate equity investments. The Analyst will work primarily with our different group heads in developing a research platform that will be used throughout the organization. This position is based in our Horsham, PA office.

Responsibilities
+ Design, estimate, and develop mortgage prepayment and credit default models.
+ Maintain and support the existing models.
+ Communicate model assumptions, projections, performance, and valuation implications to internal and external clients.
+ Conduct data analysis, quantitative portfolio analytics, and customized research.
+ Identify and track the areas of risk within loans, properties, and securities.
+ Complete research studies and produce research papers.
+ Provide timely, accurate information and analysis for special requests and special projects from internal and external clients.

Requirements
+ Master`s degree in statistics or econometrics or PhD, with 3 or more years of hands-on quantitative analysis & predictive modeling experience in commercial or residential mortgages.
+ Outstanding statistical, analytical, and problem solving skills.
+ Demonstrated proficiency in mortgage performance predictive model development.
+ Working knowledge of mortgage backed security market and the role of a rating agency in surveillance and new issue.
+ Understanding of non-agency commercial or residential loan-level data including Intex, Loan Performance, and consumer credit data.
+ Fluent with statistical modeling software SAS.
+ Competent with SQL programming and SQL management studio.
+ Experience with report writing software (Business Objects, Cognos, etc).
+ Understanding of governance, control, and validation of forecasting models.
+ Experience working in and/or working with cross-functional groups such as Implementation, System and IT.
+ Strong communication and project management skills.
